1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Tennis Complex
Pickleball is USAs fastest growing sport and we are playing it at this year’s Summer Conference. You and any of your guests are welcome to join us Monday afternoon for our pickleball tournament. Below is some relevant information that will assist you in understanding the pickleball options available at Summer Conference:
- We are conducting three concurrent pickleball events. There will be 2 tournament play options, one for beginners and the other will be for intermediate / advanced players. Both tournaments will begin at 1:00 on Monday June 10th, but we ask that you arrive at the courts no later than 12:45 if you are going to be playing in the tournament. You will have time to warm up before the tournament starts. The third option is for those of you that just want to play some pickleball (even if its your first time ever playing), we will have open courts available for non-tournament play beginning at 2:00.
- The tournament will consist of 2-player teams, in a single elimination format.
- In order to make the tournament as fair as possible, teams will be formed by matching player teams to equal player ratings. For the tournament, you will be paired with another player and then the team matchups will be done using a blind draw. If there is a specific player that you wish to play with, it may not be possible to make that team work into the tournament format, but you would still be able to play in the non-tournament open play format.
- FNBB will be providing cold drinks and ice, as well as the pickleballs. Pickleball paddles can also be rented at the tennis center.
- Much like golf, pickleball uses a rating system to identify the level of skill of players, from a 1.5 early beginner to a 4.5 advanced player. In order to create fair teams, we will be asking all tournament players to rate themselves using this rating scale.
When you register for Summer Conference, you will be able to register for pickleball play. Once you are registered, we will follow up with additional information regarding player ratings and team formation.
NOTE: Free play is from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
